Talent Haus is partnering with a respected Dallas company to hire a Controller who will lead the accounting and finance function onsite in the Brookhollow/Stemmons Corridor.

You'll own day-to-day accounting, mentor the team, modernize processes, and become a trusted business partner across the organization, with a path toward CFO for the right person.

Strong relationship-building, strategic thinking, and a hands-on approach to automation and AI workflows in QuickBooks Online are valued.

Qualifications

• Experience leading and developing an accounting team.
• Inventory accounting experience, ideally in retail, CPG, or e-commerce.
• Ability to build automation or AI-driven workflows.

Responsibilities

• Lead all day-to-day accounting operations.
• Own month-end and year-end close, reconciliations, journal entries and accruals.
• Manage inventory accounting including costing, SKU reconciliations, counts, shrink, and COGS.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and store-level P&L analysis.
• Oversee AP, AR, payroll accounting, and sales tax.
• Mentor the accounting team and assess staffing needs.
• Build automated AI-enabled workflows in QuickBooks Online.
• Partner with buying, marketing and operations to improve cross-department processes.
• Strengthen internal controls, policies, and procedures across locations.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and cash flow with CFO.
• Coordinate with outside CPAs on year-end, tax, and compliance.

Talent Haus is partnering with a respected company, in Dallas to hire a Controller who will lead the accounting and finance function.

This is a long-standing local brand with a loyal team. Many employees have been there for a decade or more. Leadership wants someone who will help build the next chapter of the finance function, not just keep things running.

Leadership wants someone they can trust to own accounting, develop the team, modernize processes, and become a true business partner across the company. The role is onsite in Dallas, in the Brookhollow / Stemmons Corridor area.

About the Controller

The Controller reports directly to the CFO, works closely with the CEO. You’ll oversee day-to-day accounting operations and lead the accounting team with deep institutional knowledge. For the right person, there’s a real path to CFO.

Technical skills matter, but fit matters just as much. The person who thrives here is confident, approachable, and strategic. They win people over instead of dictating, and they understand how a change in accounting ripples through the rest of the business.

What You’ll Own as Controller

• Lead all day-to-day accounting operations.
• Own the month-end and year-end close, including reconciliations, journal entries, and accruals.
• Manage inventory accounting: costing, SKU-level reconciliations, physical counts, shrink, and COGS.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and management reporting, including store-level P&Ls, margin analysis, and KPIs.
• Oversee AP, AR, payroll accounting, and sales tax.
• Mentor and develop the accounting team, and decide whether the team needs added support
• Build automated and AI-enabled workflows in QuickBooks Online.
• Partner with buying, marketing, and operations to improve cross-department processes like expense reporting.
• Strengthen internal controls, policies, and procedures across stores, the warehouse, and the corporate office.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management alongside the CFO.
• Coordinate with outside CPAs on year-end, tax, and compliance.

What We’re Looking For in a Controller

• Controller or Assistant Controller experience. Strong Assistant Controllers ready to step up are encouraged to apply.
• Inventory accounting experience, ideally in retail, CPG, or e-commerce.
• Experience leading and developing an accounting team.
• Experience building automation or AI-driven workflows.
• A CPA is a plus but not required.
