Job summary

Y-Axis seeks a Controller to oversee day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, cash management, budgeting, and human resources administration. This role partners closely with leadership to ensure financial accuracy, strong internal controls, support strategic decision‑making, and manage key operational functions across accounting, payroll, benefits, and compliance.

The ideal candidate has 3–5+ years of full-cycle accounting, 2+ years of leadership, CPA preferred, and strong Excel

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
  • 3–5+ years of full-cycle accounting or public accounting experience.
  • 2+ years of leadership or management experience preferred.
  • CPA preferred; strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee general accounting activities, including journal entries and month‑end close.
  • Manage cash flow, banking, investments, and asset management.
  • Maintain internal controls and ensure accounting policy compliance.
  • Coordinate payroll processing, benefits, and HR administration.
  • Prepare forecasts, budgets, and variance analyses for management.

Description DescriptionOur client is seeking a Controller to oversee day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, cash management, budgeting, and human resources administration. This role partners closely with leadership to ensure financial accuracy, maintain strong internal controls, support strategic decision-making, and manage key operational functions across accounting, payroll, benefits, and compliance.Key ResponsibilitiesOversee general accounting activities, including journal entries, month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparationManage cash flow, banking relationships, investments, and asset managementMaintain internal controls and ensure compliance with accounting policies and proceduresOversee accounts payable operations, vendor payments, and discount opportunitiesPrepare financial forecasts, budgets, and variance analyses for management reviewGenerate financial reports and provide recommendations to support business decisionsManage insurance programs, workers’ compensation audits, and related compliance activitiesCoordinate hiring, onboarding, payroll processing, commission calculations, and employee benefits administrationOversee annual 1099 preparation and serve as liaison to external auditors and tax advisorsEnsure timely debt payments and support special projects as assignedRequirementsBachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field3–5+ years of full-cycle accounting or public accounting experience2+ years of leadership or management experience preferredCPA preferredStrong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controlsProficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems; Paylocity and MarkSystems experience a plusStrong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
