Job summary

Hire Point Recruiting seeks an accomplished Controller to lead the organization's accounting function. You will oversee general ledger, close processes, reporting, controls, and internal policies while partnering with leadership to support strategic decisions.

The role blends hands-on accounting with functional leadership, driving process improvements and ensuring compliance with financial standards. This fully in-office position in Savannah, GA requires 7+ years of progressive accounting

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in a Controller or senior-level accounting capacity.
  • Strong accounting and financial reporting knowledge with experience across core accounting activities.
  • Experience overseeing financial close, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, accruals, and financial statement preparation.
  • Strong understanding of accounting standards, internal controls, and financial reporting requirements.
  • Experience evaluating and improving accounting processes, controls, and financial operations.
  • Ability to balance hands-on accounting responsibilities with broader oversight of the accounting function.
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership of responsibilities, and effectively resolve accounting and operational issues.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing business needs.
  • Experience with ERP implementation, conversion, or system transition projects preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day accounting activities and oversee the accuracy and completeness of financial records.
  • Manage monthly and annual close processes, including general ledger activity, journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and related accounting responsibilities.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, management reporting, and other financial information.
  • Ensure accounting and reporting activities are performed in accordance with applicable financial standards and requirements.
  • Develop and maintain accounting processes, policies, procedures, and internal controls that support effective financial operations.
  • Evaluate accounting activities and resolve discrepancies, outstanding items, and other financial issues as needed.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows, reporting, controls, and overall efficiency.
  • Provide financial information and analysis to leadership to support planning and business decision-making.
  • Partner with internal teams and external parties on accounting, reporting, and other finance-related matters.
  • Support accounting and finance technology initiatives, including the evaluation and implementation of system changes or improvements.
  • Participate in projects and other initiatives that support evolving financial and organizational needs.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

Job description

The Controller will lead the organization’s accounting function and be responsible for maintaining accurate financial information, effective accounting practices, and timely reporting. This role will provide oversight across general accounting, financial close, reporting, controls, and other core areas of the finance function.

The position will combine hands-on accounting responsibilities with broader functional leadership. The Controller will evaluate existing practices, address accounting and reporting needs, and identify opportunities to strengthen processes and improve overall financial operations. This individual will also work closely with leadership and other stakeholders to provide financial information and support business needs.

Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Work Arrangement: Fully In-Office (Mon-Fri)

Key Responsibilities:
