LHH is partnering with a growing, private equity-backed organization in Orange County seeking a hands-on Controller to serve as the senior finance leader for the business. This organization is entering an exciting phase of growth and is looking for a finance leader who wants the opportunity to build, improve, and scale the accounting and finance function while partnering directly with executive leadership on strategic business initiatives.
This is more than a traditional Controller role. The right individual will have the opportunity to create structure, establish best practices, improve reporting and processes, and serve as a key business partner as the company continues to grow and evolve.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all accounting operations and financial reporting activities
- Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process
- Develop and enhance financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis
- Partner with executive leadership to support operational and strategic decision-making
- Improve accounting processes, controls, and financial infrastructure
- Oversee cash management, treasury activities, and key financial operations
- Serve as the primary liaison for audits, lenders, and external advisors
- Evaluate and implement scalable systems and process improvements
- Build, mentor, and develop the accounting function as the organization grows
- Support business growth initiatives, strategic investments, and future expansion opportunities as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
- 6+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience with increasing levels of responsibility
- Experience leading or owning an accounting function within a small to mid-sized organization
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and accounting operations
- Proven ability to improve processes, create structure, and drive operational efficiencies
- Strong business acumen and ability to partner with executive leadership
- Comfortable operating in a hands-on environment where priorities evolve quickly
- Executive presence and communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders across the organization
- Experience working within a growing company environment preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA designation is a plus, but not required
- Public accounting experience is a plus
- Experience within a private equity-backed, investor-backed, or high-growth organization is a plus
- Exposure to strategic finance, acquisitions, integrations, or financial modeling is beneficial but not required
