LHH is partnering with a growing, private equity-backed organization in Orange County seeking a hands-on Controller to serve as the senior finance leader for the business. This role offers the opportunity to build, improve, and scale the accounting and finance function while partnering directly with executive leadership on strategic business initiatives.

This is more than a traditional Controller role; you will create structure, improve reporting and processes, and serve as a key business

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
  • 6+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Experience leading or owning an accounting function within a small to mid-sized organization.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and accounting operations.
  • Proven ability to improve processes, create structure, and drive operational efficiencies.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to partner with executive leadership.
  • Comfortable operating in a hands-on environment where priorities evolve quickly.
  • Executive presence and communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders across the organization.
  • Experience working within a growing company environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all accounting operations and financial reporting activities.
  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process.
  • Develop and enhance financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis.
  • Partner with executive leadership to support operational and strategic decision-making.
  • Improve accounting processes, controls, and financial infrastructure.
  • Oversee cash management, treasury activities, and key financial operations.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for audits, lenders, and external advisors.
  • Evaluate and implement scalable systems and process improvements.
  • Build, mentor, and develop the accounting function as the organization grows.
  • Support business growth initiatives, strategic investments, and future expansion opportunities as needed.

LHH is partnering with a growing, private equity-backed organization in Orange County seeking a hands-on Controller to serve as the senior finance leader for the business. This organization is entering an exciting phase of growth and is looking for a finance leader who wants the opportunity to build, improve, and scale the accounting and finance function while partnering directly with executive leadership on strategic business initiatives.

This is more than a traditional Controller role. The right individual will have the opportunity to create structure, establish best practices, improve reporting and processes, and serve as a key business partner as the company continues to grow and evolve.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all accounting operations and financial reporting activities
  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process
  • Develop and enhance financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis
  • Partner with executive leadership to support operational and strategic decision-making

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA designation is a plus, but not required
  • Public accounting experience is a plus
  • Experience within a private equity-backed, investor-backed, or high-growth organization is a plus
  • Exposure to strategic finance, acquisitions, integrations, or financial modeling is beneficial but not required
