Job summary

Bearing Point Properties seeks a Controller in Baton Rouge to manage all accounting and financial reporting for the company and its entities. You will oversee the general ledger, AP/AR, reconciliations, payroll coordination, and month-end close, while ensuring GAAP compliance and strong internal controls.

You will prepare financial statements, monitor budgets, track project costs, and support cash flow forecasting for development and property management activities.

Qualifications

• Strong accounting and finance skills including general ledger management and financial reporting.
• Experience with real estate or property management accounting including project cost tracking, rent rolls, and CAM reconciliations.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel with ability to build financial models and reports.
• Knowledge of GAAP, tax compliance, internal controls, and audit processes.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities with attention to detail.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills for presenting financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
• Ability to work on-site, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or progress toward certification preferred.
• Prior experience in Controller, Accounting Manager, or Senior Accountant roles in real estate or related industries beneficial.

• Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax requirements, and internal controls; liaise with external auditors, lenders, and investors.

Role Description The Controller is a full-time, on-site role based in Baton Rouge, LA, responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial reporting for Bearing Point Properties and its related entities. This position manages day-to-day general ledger activities, including accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, payroll coordination, and month-end and year-end close processes. The Controller prepares and analyzes financial statements, monitors budgets, tracks project costs, and supports cash flow forecasting for development and property management operations. The role also ensures compliance with relevant accounting standards, tax requirements, and internal controls, while liaising with external auditors, lenders, and investors as needed. The Controller collaborates closely with senior leadership to provide financial insights, support strategic decision-making, and implement process improvements across the organization.
