Job summary

NAES Corporation seeks a Control Room Operator for Faribault Energy Park in Minnesota. You will manage start-up, operation, and shutdown of turbines, HRSGs, and auxiliary systems, while monitoring readouts, logs, and emissions to ensure safe, efficient operation.

This 12-hour rotating shift requires experience in power plant control rooms, a Minnesota First Class Boiler Operator License (or ability to obtain within 30 days), and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree in power plant tech or related field preferred.
• Must hold Minnesota First Class Grade A (1-A) Boiler Operator License, or obtain within 30 days.
• Experience in power plant operations, particularly control room duties in large-frame units.
• Knowledge of water chemistry, HRSGs, steam turbines, and safety practices required.
• Ability to read DCS logic and document plant parameters accurately.

Responsibilities

• Perform start-up, operation, and shutdown of turbine generators and auxiliary systems while monitoring loads, temperatures, pressures, and emissions.
• Read monitors and control panels to verify conditions and adjust plant parameters as needed.
• Maintain daily logs and plant records, including output, fuel, water use, and heat rates.
• Support safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance programs and promote safety culture.
• Coordinate with the MRS remote site and other plant personnel during operations and emergencies.
• Execute lockout/tagout procedures and verify equipment status during maintenance and outages.
• Assist with troubleshooting and diagnostics of plant equipment and control systems.
• Conduct thorough shift handovers and communicate status and concerns to incoming staff.
