Job summary

Reworld Waste in New York state seeks a Control Room Operator to monitor and control plant systems from the control room, ensuring safe, reliable and efficient operation in line with environmental requirements. You will respond to alarms, start up and shutdown procedures, log performance data, and provide guidance to other operations staff while upholding safety and regulatory standards.

A high school diploma and at least three years operating high‑pressure boilers and electric generating

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of three years of experience operating high‑pressure boilers and electric generating equipment.
• Strong understanding of power plant operations.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, P&IDs, electrical schematics, equipment specifications, and vendor technical manuals.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to analyze operating conditions, identify problems, and make sound decisions in routine and emergency situations.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic computer skills and ability to learn computerized control systems.
• Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to provide direction to other employees.
• Ability to remain alert and focused while monitoring plant operations for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and control plant systems and equipment from the control room.
• Respond promptly to alarms, equipment malfunctions and abnormal conditions.
• Execute plant startup, shutdown and other operating procedures.
• Monitor and operate equipment such as pumps, motors, valves, fans and accelerators.
• Maintain accurate operating logs and records.
• Communicate status to Shift Supervisor and other site personnel.
