Job summary

Movement Search & Delivery is seeking a Controls Engineer for an onsite role in the Greater Charlotte, NC area. You will design, test, implement, and maintain automation and control systems to keep production running at peak performance and reliability.

You will lead troubleshooting, maintenance initiatives, and continuous improvement while supporting safety, quality, and productivity goals in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in industrial automation or manufacturing controls engineering.
  • Proficiency with Siemens PLC programming/troubleshooting and Fanuc CNC controls.

  • Develop and execute test procedures to validate system functionality and safety compliance.
  • Prepare and review electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic control drawings with cross-functional teams.

  • Support manufacturing and engineering teams with technical guidance while ensuring accurate process and data systems.
  • Assess emerging automation technologies and incorporate them into specifications and projects.

Movement Search and Delivery is working with a manufacturing company in the Greater Charlotte, North Carolina area to identify and evaluate a Controls Engineer


About the Role:

This fully onsite role is central to designing, testing, implementing, and maintaining automation and control systems that keep production running at peak performance. You will drive reliability, efficiency, and continuous improvement across the plant while supporting safety, quality, and productivity goals. The position offers the chance to apply advanced controls expertise in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and make a measurable impact on equipment uptime and process excellence.


What You Will Do:


  • Design, evaluate, and optimize control systems, components, and applications for maximum performance and reliability

  • Develop and execute test procedures to validate system functionality and safety compliance

  • Prepare and review electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic control drawings in collaboration with cross-functional teams

  • Troubleshoot equipment issues, coordinate repairs, and lead preventive maintenance and process improvement initiatives

  • Support manufacturing and engineering teams with technical guidance while ensuring accurate process and production data systems

  • Assess emerging automation technologies and incorporate them into specifications and projects as appropriate


What You Need to Succeed:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in industrial automation or manufacturing controls engineering

  • Proficiency with Siemens PLC programming/troubleshooting and Fanuc CNC controls

  • Experience with HMI/SCADA systems, industrial networks (EtherNet/IP, Profinet, Modbus), and robotics (Fanuc, ABB, KUKA, etc.)

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings; preferred familiarity with AGVs, vision systems, motion control, and lean/continuous improvement principles
