Cherry Bekaert Recruiting is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant / Controller Consultant to support a contract engagement in Washington, DC. Reporting to the Director of Finance, this role focuses on reconciliation and reclassification of revenues and expenses across two entities, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance.

The ideal candidate has CPA preferred, 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, and hands-on expertise with Sage Intacct, GAAP, and advanced Excel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• CPA preferred.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including senior accountant or controller-level responsibilities.
• Strong Sage Intacct experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Reconcile and analyze revenue and expense accounts across two entities.
• Perform revenue and expense reclassification to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Research and resolve accounting discrepancies and variances.
• Review historical transactions and identify correcting journal entries.
• Prepare and post journal entries as needed.
• Assist with month-end close activities and account reconciliations.
• Partner with the Director of Finance to improve reporting accuracy.
• Support audit and compliance-related requests as required.
• Document accounting procedures, adjustments, and recommendations.
