Job summary

Joseph Michaels International in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Phlebotomist for a contract role with potential for permanent placement. The schedule is 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with a projected duration of three months.

Responsibilities include performing blood draws, labeling and processing specimens, and maintaining accurate patient and test information in the lab system. Candidates must have phlebotomy certification and at least six months of venipuncture experience.

Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification required in the state of employment.
• Minimum 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and data entry in lab systems.

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Explains the venipuncture process clearly and courteously to patients.
• Demonstrates technique with straight needles and butterfly needles.
• Complies with OSHA and Department of Environmental Protection regulations; attends annual department trainings.
• Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
