Job summary

Neal R Gross and Co. is seeking experienced Court Reporters to work on a contract basis across client sites in the Maryland/DC area.

Travel to various venues including courts, board rooms, and depositions is required, with flexible volume from a few jobs monthly to several per week. You will operate machine shorthand, voice, or digital capture to create accurate transcripts, ensuring secure handling of exhibits and timely delivery of files.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1+ year experience as a Court Reporter.
• Must be able to pass security screening for access to government sites.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with required equipment and software.

Responsibilities

• Take down proceedings using machine shorthand, voice, or digital capture.
• Capture verbatim records of courts, meetings, depositions, and hearings.
• Set up, operate, and transport equipment at client sites.
• Prepare assignments, build job worksheets, review case materials.
• Secure exhibits, back up files, and upload final transcripts.
• Maintain reports and logs and respond promptly to inquiries.
