Job summary

Northern VA Community College is seeking a part‑time Content Tutor for Nursing to support students in healthcare subject areas, including math, sciences, and writing, through focused instruction and study‑skill development in a supportive learning environment.

The tutor will collaborate with the ASC Manager and faculty to form study groups, assign practice resources, distribute information to foster academic improvement, and help students achieve course success.

Qualifications

• Tutoring and/or teaching experience in nursing.
• Experience as a registered nurse.
• Knowledge of nursing fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Provide tutoring assistance to students as needed.
• Assist ASC Manager in forming specialized study groups as need arises.
• Assign software programs to assist students in various academic programs.
• Distribute information leading to academic improvement.
• Consult with faculty regarding center’s resources.
• Research current list of useful Internet resources for student and faculty use.
• Work closely with Tutoring Services Coordinator, academic discipline faculty and staff, and Student Services faculty and staff to provide optimal services to students.
• Provide tutoring services orientation for any willing faculty member.

Job Description

The Content Tutor cooperatively assist students with various healthcare subjects including but not limited to math, sciences, and writing (as feasible) through instruction and implementing study skills.

Duties and Tasks

• Provide tutoring assistance to students as needed
• Assist ASC Manager in forming specialized study groups as need arises
• Assign software programs to assist students in various academic programs
