Job summary

Northern VA Community College is seeking a Content Tutor in the Physical Therapy Assistant track to assist students with healthcare-related subjects, math, science, and writing, and to help implement study skills.

The role supports tutoring services, works with faculty and staff, and helps form specialized study groups to enhance student learning. A PTA background and strong customer service are preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience with one-on-one and/or group tutoring.
• Experience as a physical therapist assistant.
• Completion of an accredited Physical Therapy (DPT) program.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, diverse student population.

General Description:

The Content Tutor: Physical Therapy Assistant cooperatively assist students with various healthcare subjects including but not limited to math, sciences, and writing (as feasible) through instruction and implementing study skills.

Duties and Tasks:

• Provide tutoring assistance to students as needed
• Assist ASC Manager in forming specialized study groups as need arises
• Assign software programs to assist students in various academic programs
• Distribute information leading to academic improvement
• Consult with faculty regarding center’s resources
• Research current list of useful Internet resources for student and faculty use
• Work closely with Tutoring Services Coordinator, academic discipline faculty and staff, and Student Services faculty and staff to provide optimal services to students
• Provide tutoring services orientation for any willing faculty member
