Job summary

NOVA is seeking a Content Tutor for Nursing to assist students across healthcare subjects, including math, sciences, and writing, through instruction and study-skill coaching.

The role collaborates with the ASC Manager and faculty to form study groups, distribute learning resources, and help students improve academically. Flex scheduling supports varied hours and student needs.

Qualifications

• Tutoring/teaching nursing experience required.
• Registered nurse experience required.

• Provide tutoring assistance to students as needed.

• Assign software programs to assist students in various academic programs.
• Distribute information leading to academic improvement.
• Consult with faculty regarding center’s resources.
• Research current list of useful Internet resources for student and faculty use.
• Work closely with Tutoring Services Coordinator, academic discipline faculty and staff, and Student Services faculty and staff to provide optimal services to students.
• Provide tutoring services orientation for any willing faculty member.

Duties and Tasks

• Provide tutoring assistance to students as needed
• Assist ASC Manager in forming specialized study groups as need arises
• Assign software programs to assist students in various academic programs
• Distribute information leading to academic improvement
• Consult with faculty regarding center’s resources
• Research current list of useful Internet resources for student and faculty use

Special Assignments

Required KSAs

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs

Minimum Qualifications

• Tutoring and/or teaching experience of nursing.
• Experience as a registered nurse

Additional Considerations

• one-on-one and group tutoring experience
• Earned credential (certificate, associate of applied science degree, bachelor’s degree) in nursing
• Successful completion of the National Council Licensure Examination ( NCLEX )
