Job summary

Northern VA Community College is seeking a part-time Content Tutor for Clinical Data Coding in Fairfax County. The tutor will aid students in healthcare subjects, including math, sciences, and writing, through direct instruction and study-skill development.

The role requires strong customer service, communication, and analytical skills, with experience in clinical data coding tutoring and familiarity with Microsoft Office. RHIT certification is preferred.

Qualifications

Job Description

General Description: The Content Tutor: clinical data coding cooperatively assist students with various healthcare subjects including but not limited to math, sciences, and writing (as feasible) through instruction and implementing study skills.

Duties and Tasks

• Provide tutoring assistance to students as needed
• Assist ASC Manager in forming specialized study groups as need arises
• Assign software programs to assist students in various academic programs
• Distribute information leading to academic improvement
• Consult with faculty regarding center’s resources
• Research current list of useful Internet resources for student and faculty use
• Work closely with Tutoring Services Coordinator, academic discipline faculty and staff, and Student Services faculty and staff to provide optimal services to students
• Provide tutoring services orientation for any willing faculty member

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Experience with one-on-one and/or group tutoring
• Tutoring and/or teaching experience of clinical data coding

Additional Considerations

• Earned credential (certificate, associate of applied science degree, bachelor’s degree) in clinical data coding skills
• Certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
• Satisfactorily passed undergraduate coursework in health information management or related health science field within 3 years of date of application
