You will set the platform vision, establish architectural standards, and partner with product to deliver a scalable, secure ingestion system used across the company. Qualifications

• 8+ years in software engineering with 3+ years leading backend, data-infra, or platform teams.
• Experience with high-throughput distributed systems and data pipelines.
• Experience applying AI/ML in production, including LLM-based processing.
• A platform-product mindset with defined interfaces and SLAs.
• A security-minded approach to designing systems from inception.
• Operational excellence: reliability, observability, on-call health.
• Strong, clear communication with product and engineering partners.

Responsibilities

• Own the vision for real-time, AI-native ingestion for Scribd's platform.
• Lead a founding backend and AI data engineering team, shaping culture and standards.
• Turn platform capabilities into product impact with cross-team roadmaps.
• Partner with product to define roadmaps and commitments for content ingestion.
• Champion security and safe handling of untrusted content at scale.
• Collaborate with senior leaders across trust, safety, content understanding, and AI platforms.
