Reports to: Account Director / Jr Account Director

Practical JD Update:

We're evolving the traditional copywriter role to better align with the team’s current needs and the industry’s direction. This new hybrid role combines strong editorial skills with proactive account support. It maintains a core in writing but expands into content strategy, client engagement, and cross-functional collaboration.

Summary

This is an ideal next step for a Copywriter looking to expand into editorial leadership while staying close to the craft of writing. The role supports growth into strategy, content quality, and client collaboration—without stepping fully away from creative output.

  • Craft compelling, concise, and on-brand social media copy for a range of pharmaceutical clients.
  • Develop in-asset copy (e.g., carousels, static posts, short-form video scripts) that aligns with brand tone and strategy.
  • Review and refine content created by others for clarity, accuracy, and impact.
  • Champion editorial best practices within the team (e.g., consistency, tone, proofreading checklists, etc.)
  • Participate in brainstorms led by account and creative teams to help shape content upstream in the development process and foster deeper integration into the creative workflow.
  • Contribute to the drafting of broader content types, including filming guides, toolkits, campaign overviews, and thought leadership pieces.

Strategic Account Support:

  • Collaborate with the account team to build social media calendars, helping to ensure consistency, voice alignment, and audience relevance.
  • Assist in researching campaign ideas, competitive activity, and trends to help upgrade our offering and inspire new approaches.
  • Propose innovative content ideas and reference inspiring posts, helping to keep our work fresh and engaging.
  • Help identify opportunities where our team could lead on owned channel content, such as Amgen.com articles, as a potential area of growth for the role in future planning cycles.
  • Join client meetings and status calls to gain context and contribute when appropriate (though active participation is not always required).
  • Understand client preferences and feedback to fine-tune copy and content strategy.
  • Serve as a bridge between creative and account, ensuring that client needs are translated into high-quality deliverables.

Tools & Platforms

The role involves working across collaborative content tools and staying current with evolving technologies that support writing and creative strategy.

  • Comfort using AI-supported writing tools (e.g., ChatGPT, GrammarlyGO) to support ideation, editing, research, and content refinement
  • Familiarity with social platform specs and best practices across Meta, LinkedIn, X, YouTube, BlueSky, and other relevant channels
  • Openness to contributing to AI training sessions and internal knowledge-sharing, helping the broader team learn how to apply these tools effectively within the content creation process
  • Proficiency in platforms such as Google Docs, Slides, Sheets and MS Teams for writing and collaboration

Continue taking ownership of social media copy across assigned accounts, with a focus on quality, brand alignment, and incorporating feedback more fluidly over time.

2. Expand Written Contributions Beyond Social

Support other content needs—such as filming guides, campaign docs, or thought leadership – demonstrating adaptability while staying rooted in strong writing.

3. Collaborate on Calendar Builds

Help shape social calendars by contributing to voice consistency, narrative flow, and cross-post alignment, in close partnership with the account team.

4. Surface Inspiration & Trends

Bring creative inspiration to team discussions—whether cool campaigns, fresh formats, or platform trends that can help evolve our work.

5. Build Strategic Context

Sit in on client meetings to better understand their tone, feedback, and strategic goals. No need to lead—focus on absorbing context that informs your writing.
