Job summary

Ingersoll Rand is building a new data center power generation vertical. The Mechanical Engineer will own mechanical design for large containerized power systems, translating knowledge from global teams into scalable, manufacturable designs in Sidney, OH.

You will collaborate with electrical, controls, and thermal teams to ensure integrated solutions and meet uptime requirements. Ideal candidates bring 3+ years of mechanical development experience in power generation or modular systems, with 2+

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of progressive mechanical development design experience in power generation or similar.
• 2+ years of experience with 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA).
• Knowledge of structural design, sheet metal fabrication, welded assemblies.
• Experience with containerized equipment, enclosures, cooling, fuel systems, and emissions considerations.

Responsibilities

• Design containerized and modular power generation solutions for data center backup and prime power applications.
• Develop 3D models, detailed drawings, assemblies, fabrication packages, and engineering documentation using CAD software.
• Design and integrate generator enclosures, ISO container-based power systems, and structural support systems.
• Perform engineering calculations related to structural integrity, airflow, cooling, and vibration.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure uptime, maintainability, and serviceability.
