Job summary

M&T Bank in Portland, ME seeks a Branch Risk and Operations Specialist to provide operational guidance, risk training and audit support to branch staff across assigned areas. You will coach staff on policies, assist with audits, and help implement branch openings or relocations while traveling to locations as needed.

You will work with internal partners to ensure adherence to procedures, identify risks, and promote fraud prevention initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years’ proven and progressive branch and/or audit experience, or 7 years’ higher education/work experience.
• Demonstrated interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical and technical skills. Excellent problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to travel to and work in assigned branch locations.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance, training and coaching to branch personnel regarding risk and operational policies and procedures.
• Maintain knowledge of the branch audit process and procedures to support timely completion and escalation of exceptions.
• Support branch employees in developing problem-solving skills for risk management decisions.
• Conduct coaching sessions and summarize findings to ensure adherence to procedures.
• Identify risk-related behaviors and escalate to appropriate partners.
• Participate in regular meetings with branch partners and leadership to deliver updates on changes.
• Respond to large losses and robberies, managing on-site follow-up and compliance checklists.
• Serve as a Retail Bank resource for bank-wide programs and projects; build partnerships with internal teams.
• Manage operational tasks related to new branch openings, consolidations and relocations.
• Adhere to risk and regulatory standards and document issues for escalation.
