Role and Responsibilities
Role & Responsibilities

The Consumer & Market Insights Director is the Corporate Marketing team's expert voice on the consumer: who they are, how they use Samsung products, and how they perceive the Samsung brand relative to competitors. This person owns the end-to-end insights agenda: designing and fielding primary research, synthesizing secondary and syndicated research, and translating findings into clear, decision-ready recommendations. The role sits at the intersection of research rigor and business impact, partnering closely with brand, media, and creative teams to ensure every major marketing decision is grounded in a deep, current understanding of the consumer.

  • Design, scope, and manage primary quantitative and qualitative research studies (e.g., surveys, focus groups, in-depth interviews, ethnographies, usability studies) to answer specific business questions.
  • Select and manage external research vendors and panels; negotiate scopes of work, timelines, and budgets.
  • Develop research objectives, hypotheses, discussion guides, and questionnaires in partnership with marketing stakeholders.
  • Analyze primary research data (using statistical and qualitative analysis methods) to surface clear, actionable findings.
Secondary Research & Market Intelligence

Monitor and synthesize syndicated and secondary research (e.g., category reports, analyst research, industry studies, social listening, competitive intelligence) relevant to consumer electronics and Samsung's core categories.

Maintain a current, organized point of view on consumer trends, category dynamics, and competitive brand positioning.

Curate and evaluate third‑party research vendors, panels, and data sources to ensure the team has access to best‑in‑class tools and data.

Brand & Consumer Understanding

Serve as the organization's subject‑matter expert on consumer attitudes, behaviors, needs, and perceptions related to Samsung products and the Samsung brand.

  • Build and maintain core measurement frameworks (e.g., brand health tracking, usage & attitude studies, customer satisfaction/NPS, purchase journey mapping) to monitor shifts over time.
  • Develop consumer segmentation and personas that inform targeting, messaging, and product strategy.
  • Translate complex research and data into clear, compelling narratives and recommendations tailored to marketing, brand, and executive audiences.
  • Present findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders, including corporate marketing leadership.
Business Partnership
  • Act as a trusted advisor to Corporate Marketing functional leadership, proactively identifying research needs that will help the team achieve its business objectives.
  • Prioritize and manage a portfolio of research initiatives against budget, timeline, and organizational priorities.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree with 12+ years of experience analyzing consumer data and providing insights that drive business, including research methods and statistics.
  • Mix of Client and/or agency side experience a plus.
  • Experience designing and executing both qualitative and quantitative primary research studies, from scoping through fielding to analysis.
  • Strong experience synthesizing secondary/syndicated research and competitive intelligence into usable business input.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate data into clear narratives and recommendations for non‑technical, senior audiences.
  • Working knowledge of research methodologies, sampling, survey design, and statistical analysis.
  • Experience managing external research vendors, panels, and agency partners.
  • Ability to adapt and move between platforms and partners to evolve with changing business needs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience with brand tracking, segmentation, and customer journey research.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Zappi, Sprinklr and Infotools.
  • Experience with syndicated resources such as Kantar MONITOR, eMarketer and Statista.
  • Experience within a large matrixed organization or global brand marketing function.
