Job summary

Qualifications

• Excellent written and verbal communication with members.
• Strong decision-making and attention to detail.
• 3–5 years of consumer lending experience.
• Current NMLS license is required for mortgage-related lending.
• In-depth knowledge of DTI, LTV, income verification, and credit reports.
• Ability to empathetically handle member needs and remain calm.
• Capable of managing a high-volume loan pipeline.
• Cross-sell credit union products when appropriate.
• Proficient in using lending platforms and compliance training.

Responsibilities

• Interview members and provide information on loan products.
• Assist applicants in completing loan applications by phone or electronically.
• Obtain and evaluate credit reports.
• Calculate DTI and secured vs unsecured loan portions.
• Identify co-applicant eligibility from statements and credit.
• Notify applicants of loan decisions and communicate with creditors.
• Review exceptions beyond lending authority with managers.
• Analyze tax returns, pay stubs, and collateral to assess creditworthiness.
• Mitigate loan loss with VP of Lending and credit manager.
• Ensure understanding of loan procedures and policies.
• Cross-sell GAP, warranties, and credit life/disability insurance.
• Maintain compliance by using lending scripts and training platforms.
