Job summary

Steptoe LLP seeks a Staff Attorney with a minimum of four years of litigation experience for its New York office. The Staff Attorney will primarily assist with litigating and settling consumer litigation and arbitration matters under the supervision of Partners in Steptoe’s Consumer Litigation practice group.

Qualifications

• Minimum four years of experience as a litigator.
• Juris Doctor degree required.
• New York bar in good standing required.
• Strong academic credentials and writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with litigating and settling consumer litigation and arbitration matters under supervision of Partners.
• Manage individual litigation and arbitration matters, including reviewing correspondence and pleadings, reporting urgent issues to the supervising Partner, and managing calendars and deadlines.
• Conduct document review and supervise local counsel; draft pleadings and motions; handle discovery.
• Settlement duties include communication with opposing counsel, client settlement recommendations, and drafting agreements.
• Attend court appearances and arbitration merits hearings as required.
