Job summary

Aerotek is seeking a skilled Construction Technician for a contract-to-hire role in Waterloo, IA. This position focuses on hands-on carpentry, steel stud framing, and interior finish work on commercial and residential projects. A strong background in doors/windows installation and precise measurements is required.

The role supports site safety and quality, with typical hours from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and some overtime/travel as needed. Benefits include health, 401(k), and paid time off.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of carpentry or construction experience.
• Experience installing doors, windows, hardware, and interior finishes.
• Knowledge of steel stud framing and wood carpentry techniques.
• Ability to read construction drawings and layouts.
• Skilled in the use of common hand tools and power tools.
• Strong math and measuring skills.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to lift, carry, and perform physical work throughout the day.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship.

Responsibilities

• Perform commercial and residential construction work, including steel stud framing, wood framing, and carpentry tasks.
• Install, hang, and hardware doors and windows, ensuring proper fit and functionality.
• Read and follow blueprints, layouts, and project specifications.
• Measure, cut, and assemble materials accurately using hand and power tools.
• Complete interior finish work, including trim, hardware installation, and detailed carpentry projects.
• Assist with concrete forming, placement, and finishing activities as needed.
• Operate tools and equipment safely, including circular saws, nail guns, and other construction tools.
• Support general construction activities such as material handling, site preparation, and cleanup.
• Work collaboratively with project teams to maintain schedules and quality standards.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized job site at all times.
