Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Working knowledge of construction methods, tools, materials, and safe work practices.
  • Ability to learn and troubleshoot facility systems including water, wastewater, propane, electrical, and life-safety systems.
  • Ability to travel and work at remote AMC facilities for extended periods when required.
  • Ability to safely hike and work in backcountry environments while carrying up to 50 pounds of tools and equipment.
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications and digital work-order systems.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support the maintenance, operation, repair, and improvement of AMC facilities.
  • Respond to facility service requests and assist with troubleshooting building systems.
  • Perform construction, renovation, maintenance, and repair projects across AMC properties.
  • Perform carpentry and trade-related work including framing, finish work, repairs, and general construction tasks.
  • Participate in seasonal facility opening and closing activities.
  • Support on-call facility response, snow removal operations, and other operational needs as assigned.
  • Assist with helicopter lift work and/or ski trail grooming operation when trained and assigned.
  • Work safely in remote and backcountry environments while supporting AMC facilities and infrastructure.
  • Utilize Microsoft applications and CMMS software to manage work orders, document work, and communicate project updates.
  • Pursue professional development, certifications, and technical training while supporting a safe and collaborative work environment.
  • Supports additional projects and responsibilities as needed.

The Construction Technician works with Construction staff to build, operate, maintain, repair, and improve AMC facilities. This position supports a wide variety of construction, maintenance, operational, and facility system needs across AMC's lodges, outdoor centers, high mountain huts, and remote facilities. The technician performs work ranging from routine maintenance and service response to construction projects, facility improvements, and seasonal operations while helping provide safe, reliable, and sustainable infrastructure for AMC guests and staff.

Some technicians may become highly skilled in construction, carpentry, renovation, and project work, while others may develop specialized knowledge of facility systems, operations, troubleshooting, and regulatory compliance. What You're Doing at AMC

What AMC Can Offer You:

Salary range:$18.00 - $24.00/hr

External candidates typically begin their journey with us at the starting point of the salary range. The final compensation offer will be based on factors such as experience, education, skills and geographic differential relevant to the position, and will be discussed during the interview process.
