Job summary

Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC) is seeking a Seasonal Maintenance Technician for Noble View in Russell, MA. This entry-level role supports a diverse maintenance team, performing carpentry, plumbing, basic electrical, and general upkeep on AMC properties.

You will work roughly 13–16 hours per week, with shifting schedules and a focus on safety and teamwork in remote locations. A driver’s license and flexible availability are required.

Qualifications

• High School education or equivalent required.
• Valid driver's license or ability to obtain one.
• Flexibility to work on various shifts and weekends.
• Basic computer literacy required.
• Physical ability to perform manual maintenance tasks and live on site if needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic carpentry, maintenance, and light construction tasks under supervision.
• Troubleshoot facility systems including propane, water, wastewater, fire detection, electrical, and waste.
• Safely use power tools for carpentry and maintenance.
• Collaborate with team to complete assignments and maintain a clean, safe site.
• Maintain orderly job sites and sanitary living conditions in remote locations.
• Work safely following guidelines and industry standards.
• Assist with additional tasks on property as needed.

This is an entry level job that allows new team members to build knowledge, gain experience, and gain responsibility on a technically diverse team. Part Time Maintenance Tech works with all other Noble View staff to maintain AMC’s Noble View Outdoor Center. Desired skills for Seasonal Techs include basic trade skills including but not limited to carpentry, plumbing, light electrical, basic mechanics, and general maintenance. The Part Time Maintenance Technician will average 13-16 hours per week to complete tasks as needed on property.

What you’ll be doing at AMC

• Work under limited direction to perform basic carpentry, maintenance, and other construction assignments.
• Understand and help troubleshoot all facility systems including, but not limited to: propane, potable water, wastewater, fire/smoke detection, low voltage DC electrical, and solid waste.
• Competency with power tools is necessary to safely complete carpentry, maintenance, and other construction assignments.
• Contribute in a positive manner in a team-oriented approach to completing assignments. Maintain positive attitude with other employees living and working in close proximity.
• Contribute to maintaining orderly jobsite and sanitary living conditions on projects in remote locations with limited amenities.
• All Maintenance Tech members are expected to work within safe guidelines and industry parameters to insure safe project worksites, facilities, and practices. It is critical that Seasonal Techs recognize, practice, and teach safe work habits.
• Other tasks on property as needed.

Qualifications

• Valid Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one.
• High School Education or equivalent.
• Must be able to maintain flexible work/off time.
• Computer literacy skills.
• Physical abilities required: ability to perform physical tasks, travel for work and live on job sites with limited amenities.

Salary range: $19-$20/hr (13+ hours/week). We are committed to fair compensation practices, and we encourage qualified candidates to apply. The initial salary represents our starting point, and our compensation philosophy is designed to reward and recognize the contributions of our employees as they grow within the organization. External candidates typically begin their journey with us at the starting point of the salary range. The final compensation offer will be based on factors such as experience, education, skills and geographic differential relevant to the position, and will be discussed during the interview process.
