Job summary

Gewalt Hamilton Associates, Inc. (GHA) is seeking a Construction Intern to join our Vernon Hills, IL team. This non-exempt internship will involve field work, measurements, quantity calculations, and layout under supervision of civil engineers.

Responsibilities include interpreting plans, observing roadway and municipal projects, and reporting progress. The role offers hands-on experience, mentorship, and a supportive environment during the summer season.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field.
• Clean driving record and valid driver’s license required.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to work under supervision and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Read, interpret, and comprehend engineering plans and contract specifications.
• Perform engineering and related duties including construction observation, layout, inspection of material placement, and quantity measurement.
• Complete tasks assigned by Project Managers and engineers to meet schedules and report status.
