Job summary

Gewalt Hamilton Associates (GHA) is seeking a Land Surveyor II to join our Construction and Survey team in Schaumburg and Vernon Hills, IL. This full-time, non-exempt role blends field data collection with office support and requires collaboration with professional staff.

You will operate survey instruments, process field data, and help produce engineering maps while adapting to weather conditions and deadlines. A focus on accuracy and teamwork is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or HSE required.
• Bachelor’s or associate degree in engineering tech preferred.

Responsibilities

• Read, interpret, and assist in the development of technical documents and calculations.
• Read civil, architectural, and structural drawings for construction layout.
• Assist in applying design criteria when obtaining field data for drawings and reports.
• Operate survey instruments and perform field adjustments; maintain field notes and data.
• Work outdoors in varying weather to perform topographic, boundary surveys and construction layout.
• Contribute to production of maps, documents, and records.
• Review existing condition surveys for thoroughness and accuracy.
