Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat in Groton, CT is seeking engineers for the D476 Construction Support Engineering team to support the Columbia class construction in Groton. This 2nd shift role offers hands-on problem solving as the program moves toward delivery of SSBN 826.

You will provide engineering oversight to trades, interpret drawings, evaluate issues, and coordinate with design and SUPSHIP to ensure safe, on-time completion, testing, certification, and sea trials for the Columbia missile

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Structural, Civil, Marine, or Electrical Engineering
• 5+ years of discipline specific (structural, mechanical, piping or electrical) engineering experience
• Ability to obtain a DOD Secret security clearance or higher is required

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering oversight and assistance to trade personnel
• Evaluate emergent shipyard issues that arise during construction and rapidly develop technically acceptable resolutions
• Interpret design, drawing, and specification requirements
• Providing direction and evaluation to Groton trades via disposition of CNs and TIR UNSATs
• Support final assembly, test, certification, and delivery activities for COLUMBIA Class
• Provide surveillance of manufacturing, inspection, and testing of material in the Groton shipyard
• Lead multidisciplinary engineering evaluations
• Facilitate implementation of the design, lessons learned, and process improvements
• Coordinate engagement of design and engineering SMEs in the construction sequence
