Job summary

City of Mesa is seeking a Construction Supervisor to guide construction inspection teams and coordinate public works projects from design through final close-out. You will ensure feasibility of schedules, monitor quality, and collaborate with client departments and outside agencies to resolve issues in the field.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field with 1–3 years paraprofessional engineering experience.
• OR extensive 5+ years of experience managing the construction phase of public works projects and/or inspecting public works construction projects.
• Good 1–3 years experience as lead or supervisor or as City of Mesa Construction Inspector II.
• Must possess a valid Class D Arizona Driver's License by hire or promotion date.
• Background investigation and pre-employment drug testing required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the work of Construction Inspector II staff and trainees.
• Train inspection staff on construction and inspection methods and safety procedures.
• Review project schedules for feasibility and coordinate with project managers.
• Approve traffic control plans and lead project close-out procedures.
• Assess contractor work viability and negotiate with contractors on changes and delays.
