Job summary

City of Mesa is seeking a Construction Inspector II to perform quality assurance inspections and administer City contracts for large-scale, high-profile public works projects. The role includes assisting in training staff and serving as a field resource for staff, contractors, and developers, and acting as supervisor when the Construction Supervisor is unavailable.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or GED.
• Five years of experience in construction trades, construction management, inspections, civil engineering inspections, building inspections, and/or paraprofessional engineering OR two years’ full-time employment with the City of Mesa as a Construction Inspector I.

Responsibilities

• Perform quality assurance inspections and administer City contracts for large-scale or complex public works projects.
• Assist in training of new inspection staff and serve as field resource for City staff, contractors, and developers; act as supervisor in the absence of the Construction Supervisor.
• Inspect private utility assignments in rights-of-way to ensure conformance with approved plans, MAG and City specs, and applicable safety standards.
