Job summary

City of Mesa is seeking a Construction Inspector I to perform quality assurance inspections on civil engineering and public works projects. You will coordinate construction activities with contractors and the project team, and attend meetings to provide status updates.

In horizontal, vertical, and right-of-way assignments, you will monitor testing, update drawings, investigate complaints, and ensure compliance with city standards and codes. Evening or weekend work may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Three years of experience in construction trades, management, inspections, civil engineering inspections, building inspections, materials testing, or paraprofessional engineering.

Responsibilities

• Inspect horizontal, vertical, and right-of-way projects for compliance with contract documents and codes.
• Coordinate construction activities with contractors and project team; attend meetings to provide status updates and resolve issues.
• Monitor quality control testing and coordinate QA testing for placed materials; update record drawings as needed; investigate customer complaints.
