Job summary

City of Mesa is seeking a Supervising Engineer to lead civil, natural gas, electrical utility, and infrastructure projects. This role acts as the technical expert and city representative across departments and partners, supervising engineers and technicians on capital improvements.

Ideal candidates will have extensive supervisory experience, a civil engineering degree, and strong knowledge of design standards, regulations, and project management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years engineering experience.
• At least five years supervisory experience (3+ years in engineering).
• Traffic engineering experience required for Transportation assignment; water/wastewater for Water Resources.

Responsibilities

• Communicates with the general public, City employees, vendors, contractors, and officials.
• Prepares written documents (emails, letters, memos, reports) with clear structure and grammar.
• Reviews work for compliance with SOPs and regulations (EPA, DOT, FHWA, USGS, ADEQ, ADWR).
• Supervises engineers, planners, and technicians in planning and reviewing CIP projects.
