Job summary

Chesapeake Contracting Group is seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to lead on-site operations for multifamily and commercial projects. You will coordinate subcontractors, material, and equipment, ensure compliance with specifications, and maintain safety and schedule adherence.

You will oversee daily log updates, conduct preconstruction meetings, manage inspections, and mentor field staff while collaborating with the project team and safety department.

Qualifications

• 7+ years multifamily/commercial construction experience in a construction management or similar position.
• Familiarity with construction management and office productivity software, including MS Excel, MS Word, MS Project, Procore, Microsoft Teams, or other web-based or mobile document and project management solutions.
• Possess a valid Driver’s license in order to travel to assigned jobsites.
• Maintain OSHA 30, First Aid, CPR Certification.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain the master project schedule; prepare a detailed 2 week look ahead schedule.
• Conduct subcontractor precon meetings and coordination with PMs using Chesapeake templates.
• Proactively schedule subcontractors, consultants, and vendors in critical path to ensure timely completion.
• Ensure subcontractors comply with contracted scope of work for schedule and quality control.
• Collaborate with Safety Department and adhere to safety policy; create a jobsite safety plan.
• Attend monthly Safety Meetings and quarterly superintendent meetings.
• Coordinate daily jobsite activities of subcontractors and Owner’s vendors; assist in planning.
• Perform quality control duties; inspect/track material deliveries and installation details; issue notices of non-compliance.
• Identify conflicts in construction documents and coordinate resolutions with senior leadership.
• Prepare RFIs and review approved Material Submittals; ensure deficiencies are corrected.
• Coordinate inspections with local jurisdictions and third parties; manage punch lists.
• Train and mentor Assistant Superintendents, Field Engineers, and Laborers.
