Job description

Directs and coordinates the day-to-day operations of City water distribution, sewer collection, and stormwater systems, including all repair, maintenance, and extension activities. Ensures all work complies with City and State standards.

Responsibilities

1. Supervises daily operations of water, sewer, and stormwater systems and field crews, including repair, maintenance, and extension activities.
2. Schedules and assigns personnel and equipment, prioritizes repair activities, and interprets deeds and plats for legal property rights.
3. Oversees surveying, inspection, and review of construction plans and sites for compliance with standards and codes.
4. Addresses requests and complaints from utility companies, contractors, and the public, ensuring resolution.
5. Performs field verification and updates system maps using Asset Management software.
6. Trains employees in maintenance, construction, and safety; enforces safety regulations.
7. Monitors stock levels, assists in procurement, and maintains logs and reports.
8. Ensures operations adhere to safety programs and develops safety policies.
9. Participates in hiring, planning, work assignment, and performance evaluation of staff.
10. On-call 24/7 for emergencies on a rotating basis.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Five years of experience in Public Utilities, with relevant coursework preferred.
• Valid CDL Class A or B Driver's License, with a satisfactory MVR.
• State of Georgia Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection Licenses; Georgia Utility Manager License and certifications are preferred.

Skills and Knowledge

• Knowledge of water, sewer, stormwater systems, and construction methods.
• Skills in leak detection, valve maintenance, flow monitoring, and use of monitoring equipment.
• Proficiency in surveying techniques and equipment.
