Directs and coordinates the day-to-day operations of City water distribution, sewer collection, and stormwater systems, including all repair, maintenance, and extension activities. Ensures all work complies with City and State standards.
Responsibilities
- Supervises daily operations of water, sewer, and stormwater systems and field crews, including repair, maintenance, and extension activities.
- Schedules and assigns personnel and equipment, prioritizes repair activities, and interprets deeds and plats for legal property rights.
- Oversees surveying, inspection, and review of construction plans and sites for compliance with standards and codes.
- Addresses requests and complaints from utility companies, contractors, and the public, ensuring resolution.
- Performs field verification and updates system maps using Asset Management software.
- Trains employees in maintenance, construction, and safety; enforces safety regulations.
- Monitors stock levels, assists in procurement, and maintains logs and reports.
- Ensures operations adhere to safety programs and develops safety policies.
- Participates in hiring, planning, work assignment, and performance evaluation of staff.
- On-call 24/7 for emergencies on a rotating basis.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Five years of experience in Public Utilities, with relevant coursework preferred.
- Valid CDL Class A or B Driver's License, with a satisfactory MVR.
- State of Georgia Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection Licenses; Georgia Utility Manager License and certifications are preferred.
