Job summary

Safework in California seeks a seasoned Construction Manager to lead all facets of commercial and public project delivery, from bid through close-out. You will coordinate with owners, architects, and public agencies, review documents, and manage contractor schedules, submittals, and change orders to ensure on-time, on-budget results.

The role emphasizes collaboration with project staff, adherence to General Conditions, and effective payment oversight, with responsibilities expanding to FF&E

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized college or university in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management.
• Seven (7) years full-time paid professional experience in Construction and/or a combination of Project and Construction Management of Commercial and/or Public/Educational Facility Construction.

Responsibilities

• Manages and coordinates all phases of construction, bid/award, and project close-out for assigned projects.
• Reviews construction documents and submits comments as needed.
• Plans, organizes, and prepares status reports for upper management on project progress.
• Coordinates with public agencies to ensure off-site work compliance and with owners and project staff.
• Oversees daily contractor activities, reviews schedules/submittals, and coordinates RFC responses.
• Reviews contractor substitution submittals for compliance with specs and Owner requirements.
• Reviews and negotiates change orders to a fair price and manages schedule impacts.
• Monitors payments to contractors, architects, engineers and others.
• Administers professional service agreements between architects and the Owner.
• Coordinates Owner’s FF&E delivery.
• Monitors project close-out including DSA certification and financial close-out.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
