Job summary

XL Construction Corp. is seeking a Safety Engineer to lead safety programs on complex job sites in California. You will implement safety policies, drive risk awareness, and support project teams to prevent incidents and injuries.

The ideal candidate has 7–10 years of field construction experience at the foreman level or above, plus 3–5 years in construction safety. CSP certification is preferred, and a strong communicator will thrive in this collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Environmental Health & Safety or equivalent.
• 7–10 years of field construction experience at the foreman level or above.
• 3–5 years of direct experience in construction safety.
• Self-starter with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist and support the Director of Safety and Risk Management in executing XL Construction Corp.’s safety policies and procedures with the purpose of preventing accidents and injuries.
• Conduct daily job site safety inspections, addressing unsafe conditions and work practices.
• Oversee and support safety program implementation at the project level.
• Lead or attend weekly site safety meetings and subcontractor pre-task planning sessions.
• Stay current on safety best practices and maintain certifications in hazardous material remediation, confined space entry, fall protection, electrical safety, and PPE.
• Serve as a trusted resource to project teams in delivering safe, high-quality construction work.
• Participate in accident investigations, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
• Prepare safety performance metrics and reports.
• Perform additional duties as directed by the Director of Safety and Risk Management.
