About the Role

Our client, a respected building contractor, is seeking a practical and experienced Construction Site Foreman to join their team in Queenstown, Eastern Cape . This role is vital for ensuring the smooth and efficient execution of daily construction activities on-site. You will be responsible for supervising a crew of workers, coordinating tasks, managing materials, and ensuring work is completed according to plans and specifications while adhering to strict safety standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, excellent practical construction knowledge, and the ability to lead and motivate a team effectively. This is a hands‑on position crucial for delivering projects successfully in the Eastern Cape region.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct the daily activities of construction crews on site.
• Ensure work is performed according to project plans, specifications, and quality standards.
• Manage the allocation and efficient use of labor, materials, and equipment.
• Maintain a safe working environment by enforcing safety regulations and conducting regular inspections.
• Coordinate with the Site Manager or Project Manager regarding progress, issues, and resource needs.
• Operate or oversee the operation of construction machinery and tools.
• Maintain daily work logs, recording progress, personnel on site, and any incidents.
• Ensure the site is kept clean, organized, and secure.
• Communicate effectively with team members, subcontractors, and site supervisors.
• Assist in troubleshooting and resolving on-site construction challenges.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Foreman or in a supervisory role on construction sites.
• Skilled in various construction trades and methods.
• Solid understanding of construction processes and best practices.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations in the construction industry.
• Ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.
• Physical stamina and ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• A valid driver's license.
• Trade qualification (e.g., bricklaying, carpentry, plumbing) is advantageous.
