Industry: Construction & Heavy Civil / Site & Infrastructure

Impact Level: High - Revenue Growth, Sales of Preconstruction Services

About the Role: Argenta is partnered with a growing construction organization seeking a Construction Sales & Preconstruction Sales expert to drive revenue growth. This role is designed for a commercially aggressive construction sales professional who thrives on opening doors, creating opportunities, and converting early‑stage conversations into awarded work. You will focus on identifying opportunities in two markets; Atlanta, Georgia and Orlando, Florida. Leading pursuits, shaping scope and pricing, and partnering closely with company leadership, estimating, project management, and operations. This position is ideal for someone who understands the full construction lifecycle and excels at selling through technical credibility, disciplined planning, and execution confidence. You’ll be in front of decision‑makers, shaping scope, pricing, and strategy, and driving deals across the finish line. Expect pressure, autonomy, visibility, and real impact.

Key Responsibilities
Construction Sales & Business Development
  • Own responsibility for net‑new client acquisition and first‑time project awards
  • Proactively source opportunities through direct outreach, networking, industry events, and market intelligence
  • Lead construction sales efforts across commercial, industrial, infrastructure, and site development projects
  • Identify, qualify, and pursue opportunities aligned with company capabilities and growth strategy
  • Own and manage the sales pipeline, forecasting revenue and prioritizing pursuits
  • Serve as the primary commercial contact during the pursuit and early project phases
  • Build long‑term client relationships with developers, general contractors, owners, and engineering partners
  • Travel approximately 50% to support new business pursuits and market development
Project Management & Execution Alignment
  • Partner with project management and field leadership to ensure strong handoff from sales to execution
  • Support project planning, scheduling coordination, and resource alignment
  • Assist in resolving scope, schedule, and budget issues during pre‑award and early project phases
  • Maintain client engagement through project startup to support delivery and repeat business
  • Support contract review, negotiation, and commercial terms during pursuit and award phases
  • Assist in project budgeting, financial planning, and cost alignment
  • Evaluate commercial risk, margin targets, and contract obligations prior to award
  • Collaborate with leadership to align sales commitments with operational and financial objectives
  • Own senior‑level client relationships throughout the full sales and preconstruction lifecycle
  • Act as a trusted construction advisor, guiding clients through scope, budget, risk, and delivery decisions
  • Control deal momentum by driving next steps, deadlines, and decision paths throughout the pursuit cycle
  • Lead executive‑level meetings, pursuit strategy sessions, and critical negotiations
  • Drive momentum through pre‑bid conferences, jobsite walks, and in‑person client engagements
  • Represent the company at industry events and within key market circles to generate and advance new opportunities
  • Maintain a strong field presence, traveling approximately 50% to support high‑value pursuits, client relationships, and deal execution
New Business & Sales Skills
  • New logo acquisition and market entry
  • Prospecting, lead generation, and pipeline creation
  • Sales management, forecasting, and close strategy
  • Negotiation and executive‑level client engagement
Construction & Preconstruction Knowledge
  • Broad construction knowledge across commercial, infrastructure, site, and utility projects
  • Preconstruction and estimating experience supporting bids and pursuits
  • Familiarity with HeavyBid and AGTEK preferred
  • Budgeting, scheduling awareness, and scope definition
Commercial & Project Acumen
  • Contract management and commercial risk awareness
  • Understanding of project management and construction execution
  • Ability to sell complex, long‑cycle construction projects with confidence
  • Ability to anticipate execution risk early and shape scope, pricing, and delivery strategy to protect margin
  • Experience aligning commercial commitments with operational realities to ensure projects are both winnable and deliverable
Experience & Background
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred
  • Equivalent construction experience considered in lieu of formal education
  • A documented track record of closing large construction deals
  • Preconstruction fluency (budgets, estimating, risk, constructability)
  • Strong negotiation instincts and executive presence
Experience
  • 5‑10+ years of experience in construction sales, preconstruction, estimating, or project management
  • Demonstrated success selling and delivering construction projects and generating net‑new revenue in construction or infrastructure markets
  • Track record of opening new accounts and winning first‑time projects
  • Hands‑on experience with budgeting, scheduling, and contract management
  • Proven ability to operate in a field‑forward role with approximately 50% travel
What You’ll Be Known For
  • Winning large, complex construction projects (not just participating in bids)
  • Opening doors at the decision‑maker level and driving deals forward
  • Leading pursuits where strategy, pricing, and execution confidence determine the winner
