Job description

Overview

rhi is currently recruiting a Construction Safety Supervisor to work within the client project team in Broadmeadows on an ongoing basis.

Reporting to the Project Manager, the applicant will manage the project construction and EHS requirements on site for several significant projects, ensuring compliance with client policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

1. Recommend effective preventative actions in all areas of work, including reporting all incidents and near misses.
2. Engage with operational staff to identify high-risk activities and EHS support requirements.
3. Assist with planning and review of lift studies.
4. Manage and coordinate multiple subcontractors, including site access, permitting, and work planning.
5. Review subcontractor construction documentation, such as JSA and lift plans, to ensure compliance.
6. Ensure thorough site compliance through regular audits, investigations, and root cause analysis.
7. Ensure compliance with applicable local, national, industry, and client EHS laws, regulations, procedures, and systems.
8. Manage uncertainty to achieve a balance in business demands.
9. Prepare and submit reports on contract status and improvement recommendations.
10. Conduct pre-starts and toolbox talks, and participate in weekly HSE meetings.
11. Engage and communicate with operations and contractors to promote occupational hazard awareness.
12. Report safety leading indicators to the EHS Director.

1. Relevant qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety.
2. 10+ years of HSE/construction experience, preferably within the pharmaceutical or similar industry.
3. Experience managing multicultural teams and workforces.
4. Site-based experience.
5. Strong technical skills in EHS management and emergency response.
6. A proactive, hands-on attitude with a 'can-do' approach.
7. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
8. Capability to drive engagement within your team and the wider business.
