Job summary

Mass. Electric Construction Co. (MEC) in the New York area is seeking a Safety Manager to uphold our ZERO HARM culture on construction projects.

You will develop, implement, and audit safety programs for field teams, subcontractors, and consultants, and lead daily safety activities to protect staff. Responsibilities include site-specific safety planning, training, incident investigations, regulatory compliance, and reporting to project management.

Qualifications

• Degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
• 0–2 years in construction safety management.
• Knowledge of construction safety, Federal, and OSHA standards.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Strong organizational, communication, and detail-oriented skills.
• Independent and team player; able to access all site areas.
• Follow safety protocols and instructions.

Responsibilities

• Develop, review, update, and communicate the Site-Specific Safety Plan (SSSP).
• Ensure safety protocols align with regulatory requirements and company standards.
• Collaborate daily with craft workers to encourage safety buy-in.
• Exercise Stop Work Responsibility to enforce policies.
• Plan and problem-solve with field operations based on leading indicators.
• Lead investigations into safety incidents and root causes.
