Job summary

Ample Electric, Inc. seeks an experienced Safety Manager to administer and oversee safety operations across our Electrical and Heavy Civil divisions.

This role partners with leadership, project managers, foremen, field crews, subcontractors, clients, and insurers to keep safety programs effective and compliant. You will lead IIPP governance, inspections, training, incident investigations, and regulatory compliance while traveling to active project sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of construction safety experience.
• Strong working knowledge of OSHA and Cal/OSHA construction safety requirements.
• OSHA 30 certification required.
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar certification preferred.
• Experience supporting electrical, underground utility, heavy civil, or similar construction operations strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of PG&E contractor safety requirements is a plus.
• ISNetworld experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of environmental regulations, safety policies, and compliance requirements.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and hazard-recognition skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively work with employees, field supervision, management, clients, subcontractors, and external partners.
• Ability to coach and train personnel at all levels of the organization.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and concurrent deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate documentation and records.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word, and related software.
• Experience using SiteDocs and Autodesk Construction Cloud preferred but not required.
• Ability and willingness to travel regularly to active project sites.

Responsibilities

• Oversee onsite safety operations for Ample Electric’s Electrical and Heavy Civil divisions.
• Manage, maintain, and continuously improve the company’s Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) and overall Safety Program.
• Ensure company safety policies and field operations comply with applicable OSHA/Cal/OSHA requirements, client requirements, and company standards.
• Collaborate with insurance carrier and safety resources to maintain an effective and compliant safety program.
• Conduct regular project and facility site visits to identify unsafe conditions and verify compliance with safety procedures.
• Provide hands-on safety support to Project Managers, Foremen, supervisors, and field personnel.
• Assist project teams in ensuring construction operations are performed safely for the protection of employees, clients, subcontractors, and the public.
• Train employees on company safety policies, procedures, and expectations.
• Coordinate required safety certifications, refresher training, toolbox topics, and project-specific training.
• Identify training deficiencies and develop or coordinate corrective training as needed.
• Participate in incident investigations, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and follow-up.
• Manage and coordinate company emergency response procedures.
• Maintain required safety documentation, records, inspections, and compliance reporting.
• Stay current on regulatory changes and industry best practices affecting electrical and heavy civil construction.
• Knowledge of PG&E safety requirements and contractor expectations is a strong plus.
