Job summary

Environmental Resources Management (ERM) is hiring a Construction Safety Specialist in the United States. You will inspect sites daily, enforce fall protection and scaffolding rules, review JHAs, and lead safety workstreams on construction projects to embed risk mitigation in execution plans.

You will partner with site leadership to continually improve the safety program, act as a visible safety presence on high-risk tasks, and drive incident investigations with root-cause analysis.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety Engineering or related field preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of construction safety experience.
• Strong knowledge of fall protection, scaffolding safety, and roofing operations.
• Experience reviewing JHAs or pre-task plans.
• Experience leading or supporting incident investigations.
• Trades background (e.g., carpentry, roofing) desirable.
• OSHA 30-hour Construction Certification required; competent person certifications a plus.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Self-directed, reliable, and adaptable to a dynamic construction environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct and document daily site safety inspections.
• Enforce compliance with fall protection and scaffolding safety regulations.
• Review, evaluate, and provide feedback on contractor pre-task plans.
• Support and lead safety-related aspects of construction projects, ensuring risk mitigation in execution plans.
• Assist site leadership in managing and improving the overall safety program.
• Serve as a proactive safety presence during high-risk activities.
• Lead and support incident investigations with root cause analysis.
• Facilitate toolbox talks, safety stand-downs, and jobsite safety meetings.
• Collaborate with trade partners to ensure safe work practices.
• Build relationships across levels while enforcing safety standards.
• Identify hazards and recommend practical corrective actions.
