Job summary

Kokosing Construction is seeking a Safety Specialist to provide field support and help implement Company and Client Safety and Health policies across Central Ohio projects, including bridges and heavy civil work. You will train personnel, lead safety meetings, and coordinate with subcontractors to uphold regulatory compliance.

The role requires coordinating safety programs, conducting audits, and developing emergency response plans in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on reducing incidents

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Safety and Health or equivalent combinations of training and experience.
• 3-6+ years of safety and health in the construction industry is preferred.
• Knowledge of OSHA, DOT and EPA regulations and other safety regs.
• CPR/First Aid/AED certification preferred; OSHA 30/OSHA 10 trainer certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, implement and monitor the Company Safety and Health Program at various project locations in the Central Ohio region and surrounding areas.
• Provide training and education to personnel regarding safety and health requirements.
• Support pre-job safety planning meetings and develop emergency response plans for projects.
• Develop and issue work safety and health plans and lead safety meetings and training programs.
• Independently conduct safety audits, evaluations, inspections, and behavioral observations; implement corrective actions.
• Assist in investigation of injuries, illnesses and general liability incidents.
• Coordinate project safety programs with subcontractors, vendors and third-party personnel.

Education

Bachelor degree in Safety and Health

3-6+ years of safety and health in construction

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work in high production environment (50+ hours/week)
