Job summary

Turner Construction Company is seeking a Safety Specialist to train project teams on EH&S best practices and enforce safety programs across active sites. You will promote safe conditions, conduct orientation and safety meetings, and collaborate with subcontractors to review safety plans and JHAs.

Strong communication and leadership are essential. Qualifications include a Bachelor’s in Safety/Engineering or related field, CHST certification, OSHA 30, and current First Aid/CPR/AED.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Safety/Engineering or related field and 2+ years construction safety experience.
• CHST certification required or within two years of appointment.
• OSHA 30-hour training completed and First Aid/CPR/AED kept current.
• Familiar with EH&S regulations and general construction operations.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide EH&S training to the project team and Turner Trade employees.
• Educate on safety policies and enforce adherence to programs.
• Promote safe work practices and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Build relationships with project teams and subcontractor safety reps.
• Develop and enforce the overall project safety program.
• Review subcontractor safety programs for compliance.
• Conduct pre-construction planning meetings on safety and risk mitigation.
• Coordinate Preconstruction meetings and OSHA-based orientations.
• Create safety reports, analyze metrics, and recommend improvements.
• Lead safety meetings and document minutes; maintain logs.
• Perform safety audits and issue corrective actions to subcontractors.
• Evaluate training needs and reduce incident rates; manage regulatory exposure.
• Administer drug screening per company and owner requirements.
