Job summary

Hooper Corporation in Wisconsin is seeking a Safety Specialist to ensure health and safety compliance at client sites and protect employees, clients, and contractors.

You will develop and implement site-specific Safety Plans, monitor compliance, and audit safety performance on complex project sites. Experience in facility construction and capital projects is preferred; CSP/CHST/CSMC certifications are a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in occupational health, safety, or related discipline (preferred).
• 3–5 years of full-time experience in project health & safety support and leadership.
• 5–10 years of experience in construction project safety and health leadership on capital projects (will be considered in lieu of degree).
• Competency in OSHA requirements: Crane, Derrick, and Hoist Safety.
• Competency in OSHA 29 CFR Part 1926 Subpart P.
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP), CHST, or CSMC or equivalent preferred.
• Strong commitment to safety and ability to implement strict safety protocols.
• OSHA 10, 30-hour construction training completed preferred.
• Valid driver's license.
• Excellent initiative, problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor Hooper safety performance to verify compliance with requirements.
• Develop and implement site-specific Safety Plans and audits.
• Audit safety performance at complex project sites and report findings.
• Facilitate safety meetings and notices with site teams.
• Conduct regular on-site safety walks with client management.
• Participate in progress and schedule meetings and client trainings.
• Stop work authority for imminent hazards or dangerous conditions.
• Investigate incidents and near misses; maintain records of inspections and investigations.
• Ensure PPE availability and proper maintenance and sanitation.
• Communicate safety data to site management and stakeholders.
