Job summary

Turner Construction's Columbus office seeks an Intern in Environmental Health and Safety to support on-site safety programs for a live construction project. The role involves learning Building LIFE principles, assisting with inspections, meetings, and documentation.

You will work under supervision, gain exposure to OSHA records, safety training, and subcontractor coordination, with opportunities to develop attention to detail and teamwork on a complex site.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a college/university degree program in Occupational Safety & Health or related field with at least 1 year completed.
• Basic knowledge of safety and environmental principles.
• Desire to learn construction management and industry.
• Professional verbal and written communication skills.
• Proactive, detail-oriented, able to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist with implementing Building LIFE safety program on site.
• Identify and report safety violations and imminent dangers.
• Coordinate safety duties for meetings, toolbox talks, and training.
• Review subcontractor safety programs for compliance.
• Maintain safety records including OSHA 300 and training logs.
• Support preconstruction meetings and site inspections.
• Assist with drug screening administration and participation tracking.
