Job summary

Turner Construction in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Safety Intern to support the Environmental Health and Safety team on a live construction project and at the office location.

You will assist with implementing safety programs, reporting violations, coordinating safety meetings, and reviewing subcontractor safety plans under supervision. This internship requires active college enrollment in Occupational Safety & Health or a related field and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a college/university safety-related program with at least 1 year completed
• Basic knowledge of safety and environmental principles
• Desire to work in construction management and learn about safety processes
• Flexible to work standard hours and overtime as assigned
• Strong communication and teamwork skills

Responsibilities

• Assist with implementing safety programs and project safety initiatives
• Identify and report safety violations, especially imminent danger
• Coordinate safety duties for safety committees and toolbox talks
• Coordinate safety training and orientations
• Review subcontractor safety programs for compliance
• Promote safe work practices and maintain safety records
• Assist with drug screening program administration
• Assist with preconstruction meetings and meeting documentation
• Assist with jobsite inspections and developing inspection summaries
• Maintain safety records (OSHA logs, training, meetings)
• Assist with worker orientation and participation records
• Other duties as assigned
