Kokosing is seeking a Safety Co-op to support project teams in promoting safe work environments. You will work with safety professionals to gain hands-on experience in safety practices, regulatory compliance, hazard recognition, and incident prevention.

The role offers exposure across projects in Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and surrounding states, with responsibilities in safety meetings, site inspections, training records, and incident investigations.

Qualifications

• Pursuing associate or bachelor's degree in a safety/engineering field.
• Open to all student levels: freshman through senior.
• Experience in construction, industrial, manufacturing, or safety is beneficial but not required.
• Demonstrated interest in workplace safety and continuous learning preferred.

Responsabilités

• Assist Safety Specialists and project teams with implementing safety policies and procedures.
• Participate in project safety meetings, toolbox talks, and pre-task planning discussions.
• Conduct jobsite walkthroughs to identify hazards and improvement opportunities.
• Document safety inspections, observations, audits, and corrective actions.
• Support development and maintenance of project safety plans and site-specific safety documentation.
• Help prepare and distribute safety communications, educational materials, and project updates.
• Observe field operations and learn how safety requirements apply to construction, mining or plant activities.
• Assist with incident reporting and investigations while learning root cause analysis and corrective action processes.
• Support employee onboarding and orientation activities related to safety requirements and expectations.
• Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, foremen, craft professionals, subcontractors, and safety personnel to promote a positive safety culture.
• Maintain accurate records and assist with data collection related to safety performance and compliance activities.
• Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.
