Job summary

Kokosing, Inc. is seeking a Safety Co-op to gain hands-on experience supporting project teams in promoting and maintaining a safe work environment.

You will work with safety professionals and operations leaders on construction safety practices, regulatory compliance, hazard recognition, training, and incident prevention. The role offers exposure to projects across multiple operating states and a culture focused on safety and continuous learning.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an associate or bachelor’s degree in a safety-related field.
• Demonstrated interest in workplace safety and continuous learning.
• Willingness to work outdoors on active construction sites.

Responsibilities

• Assist Safety Specialists with implementing safety policies and procedures.
• Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and pre-task planning discussions.
• Conduct jobsite walkthroughs to identify hazards and opportunities for improvement.
• Document safety inspections, observations, audits, and corrective actions.
• Support development of project safety plans, site documentation, and training records.
• Help prepare and distribute safety communications and project updates.
• Observe field operations and learn how safety requirements apply to construction activities.
• Assist with incident reporting and investigations while learning root cause analysis.
• Support onboarding and orientation activities related to safety requirements.
• Collaborate with project staff to promote a positive safety culture.
• Maintain records and data related to safety performance and compliance.
• Complete special projects as assigned.
