Job summary

Kokosing, Inc. is seeking a Safety Co-op to gain hands-on experience supporting project teams in promoting and maintaining a safe work environment.

You will work with safety professionals and operations leaders, learning regulatory compliance, hazard recognition, training, and incident prevention across diverse projects. The ideal candidate is pursuing a degree in Occupational Safety and Health or related fields, eager to learn, and committed to a culture where everyone goes home safely each

Qualifications

• Pursuing an associate or bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Environmental Health and Safety, or a related field.
• Freshman–Senior standing eligible; commitment to learning and safety.
• Previous construction or safety-related experience is beneficial but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist Safety Specialists and project teams with implementing safety policies and procedures.
• Participate in project safety meetings, toolbox talks, and pre-task planning discussions.
• Conduct jobsite walkthroughs to identify hazards and opportunities for improvement.
• Assist with documenting safety inspections, observations, audits, and corrective actions.
• Support development and maintenance of project safety plans and training records.
• Help prepare and distribute safety communications and project updates.
• Observe field operations and apply safety requirements to construction, mining, or plant facilities.
• Assist with incident reporting and investigations while learning root cause analysis.
• Support onboarding and orientation activities related to safety requirements and expectations.
• Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, foremen, and subcontractors to promote safety culture.
• Maintain records and assist with data collection related to safety performance.
